THE SECOND BOOK OF NEFI Chapter 13

  1. And now I, Nefi, make an end of my prophesying unto you, my beloved brothers. And I cannot write but a few things which I know must surely come to pass, neither can I write but a few of the words of my brother Ya’akov. Wherefore, the things which I have written suffice me, except it be a few words which I must speak concerning the doctrine of Mashiach. Wherefore, I shall speak unto you plainly, according to the plainness of my prophesying. For my soul delights in plainness, for after this manner does Adonai yhwh work among the children of men. For Adonai yhwh gives light unto the understanding, for he speaks unto men according to their language, unto their understanding. Wherefore, I would that you should remember that I have spoken unto you concerning that prophet192 which yhwh showed unto me that should immerse the Lamb of Elohim, which should take away the sin of the world.
  2. And now, if the Lamb of Elohim, he being holy, should have need to be washed by immersion in water to fulfill all righteousness, oh, then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be washed by immersion, yes, even by water?193 And now I would ask of you, my beloved brothers, how did the Lamb of Elohim fulfill194 all righteousness in being washed by water?195 Do you not know that he was holy? But despite he being holy, he shows unto the children of men that according to the flesh he humbles himself before the Father, and witnesses unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his mitzvot. Wherefore, after he was immersed with water, the Ruach HaKodesh descended upon him196 in the form of a dove.197 And again, it shows unto the children of men the straitness of the path and the narrowness of the gate by which they should enter, he having set the example before them. And he said unto the children of men, Follow me. Wherefore, my beloved brothers, can we follow Yeshua except we shall be willing to keep the mitzvot of the Father?198 And the Father said, Repent, repent, and be immersed in the name of my Beloved Son. And also the voice of the Son came unto me, saying, He that is washed by immersion in my name, to him will the Father give the Ruach HaKodesh like unto me. Wherefore, follow me and do the things which you have seen me do. Wherefore, my beloved brothers, I know that if you shall follow the Son with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before Elohim, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that you are willing to take upon you the name of Mashiach by immersion — yes, by following your Adonai and Savior down into the water according to his word — behold, then shall you receive the Ruach HaKodesh. Yes, then comes the immersion of fire and of the Ruach HaKodesh, and then can you speak with the tongue of angels and shout praises unto HaKodesh of Isra’el.
  3. But behold, my beloved brothers, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying, After you have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that you are willing to keep my mitzvot by the immersion of water, and have received the immersion of fire and of the Ruach HaKodesh, and can speak with a new tongue — yes, even with the tongue of angels — and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that you had not known me. And I heard a voice from the Father saying, Yes, the words of my beloved are true and faithful. He that endures to the end, the same shall be saved. And now my beloved brothers, I know by this that unless a man shall endure to the end in following the example of the Son of the living Elohim, he cannot be saved. Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Adonai and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me: that you might know the gate by which you should enter. For the gate by which you should enter is repentance and washing by immersion in water,199 and then comes a remission of your sins by fire and by the Ruach HaKodesh. And then are you in this strait and narrow path which leads to Eternal life. Yes, you have entered in by the gate, you have done according to the mitzvot of the Father and the Son, and you have received the Ruach HaKodesh, which witnesses of the Father and the Son unto the fulfilling of the promise which he has made, that if you entered in by the way, you should receive.
  4. And now my beloved brothers, after you have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done. Behold, I say unto you, no, for you have not come thus far except it were by the word of Mashiach, with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save. Wherefore, you must press forward with a steadfastness in Mashiach, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of Elohim and of all men. Wherefore, if you shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Mashiach, and endure to the end, behold, thus says the Father: You shall have Eternal life.
  5. And now behold, my beloved brothers, this is the way; and there is no other way nor name given under Heaven by which man can be saved in the kingdom of Elohim. And now behold, this is the doctrine of Mashiach, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Ruach HaKodesh, which is one Elohim without end. Amen.
