    4 NEFI

    THE BOOK OF NEFI

WHO IS THE SON OF NEFI,

ONE OF THE TALMIDIM OF YESHUA HAMASHIACH

An account of the people of Nefi, according to his record.

  1. And it came to pass that the thirty and fourth year1 passed away, and also the thirty and fifth, and behold, the talmidim of Yeshua had formed an assembly of Mashiach in all the lands round about. And as many as did come unto them and did truly repent of their sins were immersed2 in the name of Yeshua, and they did also receive the Ruach HaKodesh. And it came to pass in the thirty and sixth year, the people were all converted unto yhwh, upon all the face of the land, both Nefites and Lamanites; and there were no contentions and disputations among them, and every man did deal justly one with another. And they had all things common among them; therefore, there were not rich and poor,3 bond and free, but they were all made free and partakers of the Heavenly gift.4
  2. And it came to pass that the thirty and seventh year passed away also, and there still continued to be shalom in the land. And there were great and marvelous works performed by the talmidim of Yeshua, insomuch that they did heal the sick, and raise the dead, and cause the lame to walk, and the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear. And all manner of miracles5 did they work among the children of men, and in nothing did they work miracles except it were in the name of Yeshua. And thus did the thirty and eighth year pass away, and also the thirty and ninth, and the forty and first, and the forty and second, yes, even until forty and nine years had passed away, and also the fifty and first, and the fifty and second, yes, and even until fifty and nine years had passed away. And yhwh did prosper6 them exceedingly in the land, yes, insomuch that they did build cities again where there had been cities burned, yes, even that great city Zerach’mla7 did they cause to be built again. But there were many cities which had been sunk, and waters came up in the place thereof; therefore, these cities could not be renewed. And now behold, it came to pass that the people of Nefi did grow strong, and did multiply exceedingly fast, and became an exceedingly fair and delightful people. And they were married and given in marriage, and were blessed according to the multitude of the promises which yhwh had made unto them. And they did not walk anymore after the performances and ordinances of the Torah of Moshe,8 but they did walk after the mitzvot which they had received from their Adonai and their Elohim, continuing in fasting and prayer, and in meeting together often,9 both to pray and to hear the word of yhwh. And it came to pass that there was no contention10 among all the people in all the land, but there were mighty miracles worked among the talmidim of Yeshua.
  3. And it came to pass that the seventy and first year11 passed away, and also the seventy and second year, yes, and in short, until the seventy and ninth year had passed away. Yes, even a hundred years had passed away, and the talmidim12 of Yeshua whom he had chosen had all gone to the pardes of Elohim — except it were the three13 who should remain. And there were other talmidim ordained in their place, and also many of that generation had passed away. And it came to pass that there was no contention14 in the land because of the love of Elohim which did dwell in the hearts of the people; and there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lustfulness. And surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of Elohim. There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites nor any manner of -ites, but they were one,15 the children of Mashiach and heirs to the kingdom of Elohim. And how blessed were they, for yhwh did bless them in all their doings, yes, even they were blessed and prospered until a hundred and ten years had passed away. And the first generation from Mashiach had passed away, and there was no contention in all the land.
  4. And it came to pass that Nefi,16 he that kept this last record (and he kept it upon the plates of Nefi) died, and his son Amos kept it in his place. And he kept it upon the plates of Nefi also, and he kept it eighty and four years. And there was still shalom in the land, except it were a small part of the people who had revolted from the assembly and took upon them the name of Lamanites; therefore, there began to be Lamanites again in the land. And it came to pass that Amos died also, and it was a hundred and ninety and four years from the coming of Mashiach; and his son Amos kept the record in his place. And he also kept it upon the plates of Nefi, and it was also written in The Book of Nefi, which is this book. And it came to pass that two hundred years17 had passed away and the second generation had all passed away except it were a few.
  5. And now I, M’raman, would that you should know that the people had multiplied insomuch that they were spread upon all the face of the land, and that they had become exceedingly rich because of their prosperity in Mashiach. And now in this two hundred and first year, there began to be among them those who were lifted up in pride, such as the wearing of costly apparel, and all manner of fine pearls, and of the fine things of the world. And from that time forth, they did have their goods and their substance no more common among them, and they began to be divided into classes.18 And they began to build up assemblies unto themselves to get gain, and began to deny the true assembly19 of Mashiach.
  6. And it came to pass that when two hundred and ten years had passed away, there were many assemblies in the land. Yes, there were assemblies which professed to know the Mashiach, and yet they did deny20 the greater parts of his besorah, insomuch that they did receive all manner of wickedness, and did administer that which was sacred unto him to whom it had been forbidden because of unworthiness. And this assembly did multiply exceedingly because of iniquity and because of the power of HaSatan, who did get hold upon their hearts. And again, there was another assembly which denied21 the Mashiach, and they did persecute22 the true assembly of Mashiach because of their humility and their belief in Mashiach. And they did despise them because of the many miracles which were worked among them. Therefore, they did exercise power and authority over the talmidim of Yeshua who did remain with them, and they did cast them into prison; but by the power of the word of Elohim which was in them, the prisons were broken in two,23 and they went forth doing mighty miracles among them. Nevertheless, and despite all these miracles, the people did harden their hearts and did seek to kill them, even as the Judeans at Yerushalayim sought to kill24 Yeshua, according to his word. And they did cast them into furnaces of fire, and they came forth receiving no harm.25 And they also cast them into dens of wild beasts, and they did play with the wild beasts, even as a child with a lamb; and they did come forth from among them, receiving no harm. Nevertheless, the people did harden their hearts, for they were led by many kohanim26 and false prophets to build up many assemblies and to do all manner of iniquity.27 And they did smite28 upon the people of Yeshua, but the people of Yeshua did not smite again. And thus they did dwindle in unbelief29 and wickedness from year to year, even until two hundred and thirty years had passed away.
  7. And now it came to pass in this year, yes, in the two hundred and thirty and first year,30 there was a great division among the people. And it came to pass that in this year, there arose a people who were called the Nefites,31 and they were true believers in Mashiach. And among them there were those who were called by the Lamanites: Ya’akovites, and Yosefites, and Tzuramites. Therefore, the true believers in Mashiach and the true worshipers of Mashiach, among whom were the three talmidim of Yeshua who should remain, were called Nefites, and Ya’akovites, and Yosefites, and Tzuramites. And it came to pass that they who rejected the besorah were called Lamanites,32 and L’mu’elites, and Yishma’elites. And they did not dwindle in unbelief, but they did willfully rebel against the besorah of Mashiach, and they did teach their children that they should not believe, even as their fathers from the beginning did dwindle. And it was because of the wickedness and abominations of their fathers, even as it was in the beginning. And they were taught to hate the children of Elohim, even as the Lamanites were taught to hate the children of Nefi from the beginning. And it came to pass that two hundred and forty and four years had passed away, and thus were the affairs of the people. And the more wicked part33 of the people did grow strong, and became exceedingly more numerous than were the people of Elohim. And they did still continue to build up34 assemblies unto themselves and adorn them with all manner of precious things. And thus did two hundred and fifty years pass away, and also two hundred and sixty years.
  8. And it came to pass that the wicked part of the people began again to build up the secret oaths and conspiracies of Gaddianton.35 And also, the people who were called the people of Nefi began to be proud in their hearts because of their exceeding riches,36 and became37 vain like unto their brothers the Lamanites. And from this time the talmidim began to sorrow for the sins of the world. And it came to pass that when three hundred years had passed away, both the people of Nefi and the Lamanites had become exceedingly wicked, one like unto another. And it came to pass that the robbers of Gaddianton did spread38 over all the face of the land, and there were none that were righteous except it were the talmidim of Yeshua. And gold and silver did they lay up in store in abundance, and did traffic in all manner of traffic.
  9. And it came to pass that after three hundred and five years had passed away — and the people did still remain in wickedness — and Amos died, and his brother Ammaron did keep the record in his place. And it came to pass that when three hundred and twenty years had passed away, Ammaron, being constrained by the Ruach HaKodesh, did hide39 up the records which were sacred — yes, even all the sacred records40 which had been handed down from generation to generation, which were sacred, even until the three hundred and twentieth year41 from the coming of Mashiach. And he did hide them up unto yhwh, that they might come again unto the remnant of the house of Ya’akov42 according to the prophecies and the promises of yhwh. And thus is the end of the record of Ammaron.
