THE BOOK OF ’ETER Chapter 5

  1. And it came to pass that the days of ’Eter were in the days of Coriantumr, and Coriantumr was king over all the land. And ’Eter was a prophet of yhwh; wherefore, ’Eter came forth in the days of Coriantumr and began to prophesy unto the people, for he could not be constrained because of the spirit of yhwh which was in him. For he did cry from the morning even until the going down of the sun, exhorting the people to believe in Elohim unto repentance for fear that they should be destroyed, saying unto them that by faith all things are fulfilled. Wherefore, whoever believes in Elohim might with surety hope for a better world, yes, even a place at the right hand of Elohim,42 which hope comes of faith, makes an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify Elohim. And it came to pass that ’Eter did prophesy great and marvelous things unto the people, which they did not believe because they saw them not.
  2. And now I, M’roni, would speak somewhat concerning these things. I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen. Wherefore, dispute not because you see not, for you receive no witness — not until after the trial of your faith. For it was by faith that Mashiach showed himself unto our fathers after he had risen from the dead, and he showed not himself unto them until after they had faith in him; wherefore, it must necessarily be that some had faith in him, for he showed himself not unto the world but because of the faith of men. He has shown himself unto the world, and glorified the name of the Father, and prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of the Heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things which they have not seen; wherefore, you may also have hope and be partakers of the gift if you will but have faith.43 Behold, it was by faith that they of old were called after the Holy Order of Elohim.44 Wherefore, by faith was the Torah of Moshe given. But in the gift of the Son has Elohim prepared a more excellent way, and it is by faith that it has been fulfilled.45 For if there be no faith among the children of men, Elohim can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.46
  3. Behold, it was the faith of Alma and Amulek that caused the prison to tumble to the earth. Behold, it was the faith of Nefi and Lechi that worked the change upon the Lamanites, that they were cleansed with fire and with the Ruach HaKodesh. Behold, it was the faith of Ammon and his brothers which worked so great a miracle among the Lamanites. Yes, and even all they which worked miracles worked them by faith, even those who were before Mashiach, and also them which were after. And it was by faith that the three talmidim obtained a promise that they should not taste of death, and they obtained not the promise until after their faith.47 And neither at any time have any worked miracles until after their faith; wherefore, they first believed in the Son of Elohim. And there were many whose faith was so exceedingly strong, even before Mashiach came, who could not be kept from within the veil, but truly saw with their eyes the things which they had beheld with an eye of faith;48 and they were glad. And behold, we have seen in this record that one of these was the brother of Yered, for so great was his faith in Elohim that when Elohim put forth his finger, he could not hide it from the sight of the brother of Yered because of his word which he had spoken unto him, which word he had obtained by faith. And after the brother of Yered had beheld the finger of yhwh because of the promise which the brother of Yered had obtained by faith, yhwh could not withhold anything from his sight; wherefore, he showed him all things, for he could no longer be kept without the veil. And it is by faith that my fathers have obtained the promise that these things should come unto their brothers through the Goyim. Therefore, yhwh has commanded me, yes, even Yeshua HaMashiach.49
  4. And I said unto him, yhwh, the Goyim will mock at these things because of our weakness in writing; for yhwh, you have made us mighty in word by faith, but you have not made us mighty in writing. For you have made all this people that they could speak much because of the Ruach HaKodesh, which you have given them. And you have made us that we could write but little because of the awkwardness of our hands. Behold, you have not made us mighty in writing like unto the brother of Yered, for you made him that the things which he wrote were mighty, even as you are, unto the overpowering of man to read them. You have also made our words powerful and great, even that we cannot write them. Wherefore, when we write, we behold our weakness and stumble because of the placing of our words. And I fear that the Goyim shall mock at our words.
  5. And when I had said this, yhwh spoke unto me, saying, Fools mock, but they shall mourn. And my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness. And if men come unto me, I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness, that they may be humble. And my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them. Behold, I will show unto the Goyim their weakness. And I will show unto them that faith, hope, and charity brings unto me, the fountain of all righteousness.
  6. And I, M’roni, having heard these words, was comforted, and said, O yhwh, your righteous will be done, for I know that you work unto the children of men according to their faith. For the brother of Yered said unto the mountain Zerin, Remove — and it was removed. And if he had not had faith, it would not have moved. Wherefore, you work after men have faith. For thus did you manifest yourself unto your talmidim; for after they had faith and did speak in your name, you did show yourself unto them in great power. And I also remember that you have said that you have prepared a house for man, yes, even among the mansions of your Father, in the which man might have a more excellent hope. Wherefore, man must hope, or he cannot receive an inheritance in the place which you have prepared. And again I remember that you have said that you have loved the world, even unto the laying down of your life for the world, that you might take it again, to prepare a place for the children of men. And now I know that this love which you have had for the children of men is charity.50 Wherefore, except men shall have charity, they cannot inherit that place which you have prepared in the mansions of your Father. Wherefore, I know by this thing which you have said that if the Goyim have not charity because of our weakness, that you will prove them and take away their talent, yes, even that which they have received, and give unto them who shall have more abundantly.
  7. And it came to pass that I prayed unto yhwh that he would give unto the Goyim grace, that they might have charity. And it came to pass that yhwh said unto me, If they have not charity, it matters not unto you. You have been faithful; wherefore, your garments shall be made clean. And because you have seen your weakness, you shall be made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place which I have prepared in the mansions of my Father.
  8. And now I, M’roni, bid shalom unto the Goyim, yes, and also unto my brothers, whom I love, until we shall meet before the judgment seat of Mashiach, where all men shall know that my garments are not spotted with your blood. And then shall you know that I have seen Yeshua, and that he has talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man tells another, in my own language, concerning these things. And only a few have I written because of my weakness in writing. And now I would commend you to seek this Yeshua of whom the prophets and emissaries have written, that the grace of Elohim the Father, and also Adonai Yeshua HaMashiach, and the Ruach HaKodesh, which bears record of them, may be and abide in you for ever. Amen.
